TRADOC commander to army: No excuse for not ending insecurity in Nigeria

Major General Kevin Aligbe, the Commander of Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army, has told officers of the army that there is no acceptable excuse for not ending the security challenges bedeviling the country.

Aligbe said the officers should always regenerate the spirit of the army by ensuring an end to terrorism, banditry and kidnapping in the country.

He spoke on Monday at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) that was held in Akure, Ondo State.

City and Crime reports that over 200 officers of the rank of captain, drawn from different formations and units across the country, are sitting for the practical promotion examination.

He revealed that the examination exercise became important as it was part of the requirements to prepare captains for selection to attend the Junior Staff Course at the AFCSC Jaji or any of the subscribed staff colleges overseas.

While adding that the exercise will also assist in evaluating the proficiency of the officers to develop their leadership capabilities for higher responsibilities, Aligbe charged them to prepare well for the examination and ensure they came out with flying colours.

“So, the examination is not just a mere assessment, but an assessment of your present level of proficiency.

“Fortunately, you are well-trained, and most of you have been in one theatre of operation or the other. Hence, it is presumed that you all had enough time to prepare for the examination.

“Therefore, there should be no excuse for failure, and I expect nothing short of 100 per cent pass in this examination,” he said.

Speaking, Maj. Gen. Obinna Onubogu, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, said necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure the safety of the officers in the state.

Onubogu, who appreciated the Army Headquarters for hosing the 2024 CMPPE at the division, stressed the importance of the examination towards building the capacity of the officers’ leadership to achieve national security objectives.
