A traditional ruler in Odo-Onosa village in Epe area of Lagos, Chief Jimoh Balogun and two others were yesterday arraigned before a Lagos High Court at Igbosere over alleged rape and armed robbery.
The others arraigned with him were Morufu Adekoya and Adefowope Kazeem
They were docked on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and rape preferred against them by the police.
They were arraigned before Justice Ralliatu Adebiyi and pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
According to the police, the accused conspired to commit the offence on March 26, 2014, at about 10:30am at Odo-Onosa.
The Lagos State prosecuting counsel, Babatunde Oguntemowo told the court that while armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, they robbed one Adeomi Ayomide of her wristwatches, three laptops and N272, 000.
He added that the accused also robbed one Korede Fayibo of a television set, one DVD player, unspecified amount of money and other valuables.
The court also heard that one of the victims was raped by the accused men after being robbed.
In her ruling, Justice Adebiyi granted the traditional ruler bail on self recognition while she granted the other accused bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned till January 18, 2016.
