The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, has cautioned politicians against defaming and blackmailing people seeking political offices.
Oba Alabi, made the appeal in Ilawe Ekiti on the heels of a statement credited to Yinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Kayode Fayemi, that some people were plotting to smear the image of his principal.
The Alawe said the governor was qualified for the highest political office in the country though he has not given any indication of contesting for any position.
“Dr.Fayemi is not only a two-time Governor of Ekiti state, but he is also the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum whose performance has been described by his colleagues as excellent and as a Nigerian, he is free to contest for the highest political position in the country,” Oba Alabi said.
