Traders in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, have expressed support for the state government’s decision to rebuild the burnt Jos Main Market.
The traders who revealed this yesterday to our correspondent, said the calls by some individuals and groups to stop the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jaiz Bank on rebuilding the market were uncalled for.

The traders said the project, if achieved, was for the development of everyone in the state, including the government, adding that it would generate more revenue for the state.
Recall that soon after the state government entered into an agreement with Jaiz Bank to rebuild the market, some individuals and groups protested the government’s decision on the ground that the majority of people of the state are not enlightened on the terms and conditions reached with the bank.
Mr Emeka Okaro, a trader in Abuja Market, Jos, said it was better to allow the government to rebuild the market than to abandon it because the market had been there for years and nothing was done about it, noting that every right-thinking person should support the government’s effort.
Adam Abdulwahab, Chairman of the Abuja Market, said he didn’t see anything wrong with the government’s effort to rebuild the market, noting that such an effort was long overdue and should be embraced by all and sundry.
Christiana Oyinloye, a trader at Terminus Roundabout, said rebuilding the market was for the benefit of Plateau citizens as it would create job opportunities for the teeming people in the state.
