Traders and shop owners on Kagoro Road, Emir’s Road, Unguwan Rimi Road and some areas in Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government of Kaduna State have started vacating their shops and property for fear of demolition by men of Kaduna State Urban and Planning Development (KASUPDA).
This is for the ongoing Kafanchan Urban Renewal programme.

A November 8 quit notice had ordered the traders to vacate or remove their valuables within 72 hours.
“Failure to comply with directives will leave the authority with no option than to demolish, seize and forfeit the items,” the Zonal Manager, KASUPDA, Kafanchan Zonal Office, Mr Francis Zaky, had warned in the quit notice.
Some of the affected persons who spoke with Daily Trust said the urban renewal programme was a welcome development but that it was haunting them as the government had not provided alternative places for their business.
A trader, Adamu Muhammad Lawal, said as law-abiding citizens paying taxes, the government should provide them with a suitable place to continue their trade instead of leaving them to be wandering about.
