An 18-seater commuter bus being towed lost control and killed a driver identified as Aliyu at Naharati in Abaji, on Abuja-Lokoja Road.
A witness, identified as Shuaibu, said the incident happened last Friday around 3pm, adding that the deceased, who was a commercial driver, parked by the side of the road waiting for passengers when the incident happened.
He said the rope tied to the towing truck which was coming from the Lokoja axis cut and the driver of the towing bus lost control and crashed into the victim.
“The deceased was a commercial driver and he was seated on top of his car boot waiting for passengers to Gwagwalada, when the bus being towed suddenly lost control after its rope cut and it killed him,” he said.

He said the remains of the deceased, who resided in Abaji, had been conveyed home and buried according to Islamic rites.
A relative of the deceased, identified as Adamu, said the family had decided not to involve the police in the incident and accepted the death as natural.
“Even the owner of the bus came to condole the family, and we told him that’s how God has designed it and we have decided not to involve the police,” he said.
