Sunday Olapade had the best round of the day and grabbed the 36 holes lead at the Tour Championship after shooting a 4-under par 68 to get to 5 under for the tournament.

The Nigerian started the day 1-under and tied for second place but broke away with five birdies and one bogey.

“I feel confident”, Olapade said after the opening round. “I need to think proper and make it happen tomorrow as the kind of golf I played, I had not played before”.

Gift Wily finished 1-over 73 to reach 3-under for the tournament, sitting two back from the leader.

Vincent Torgah, the defending champion, posted 1-under 71 to get to 1-under for the tournament and moved to third place in the leaderboard.

Visitor Mapwanya signed for a second round of 1-over par 73 putting him 5 strokes short of the leader in fourth place.

Kingsley Oparaku closed with 1-under par 71 and jumped from 14th to 5th place, tied with Mohammed Liman.

The Tour Championship, being staged by the West Africa Golf Tour, will be concluded on Saturday, 22 December, 2018.
