Total renews MoU with Rivers host communities

Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited on Wednesday renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with host communities of Mgbuesilaru and Nvakaohia-Rumuekpe of Emohua local government area in Rivers State.

Total E and P Director , Mr. Obi Imemba commended host communities for their mutual acceptance of the renewal of the MoU, which expired  in December 2017  but could not be renewed due to intra community conflicts.

“Going through the MoUs ,  I am convinced that their content and depth are quite far-reaching and have the potential to positively affect the lives of communities.  From the various provisions made in the MoUs, from our infrastructure to human capital development initiatives, it is clear our company is committed to touching the lives of the people.

“Judging from the outcome of our negotiations, I believe we have understood this very clearly and will adhere to the principle we have all come to agree on,” he said.

The paramount ruler of Mgbuesilaru community, Eze Princewill Ejike Weli, commended Total and Rivers State Government for all efforts made to bring the renegotiation to light.

He said that the host communities  have resolved their challenges saying that the communities  will  ensure that the MoU works.

Also, Chief Sunday Oloko, who spoke for Nvakohia community, said  that his community has remained united and committed to success of the process.
