No doubt, our Nigerian singers have placed the country on the world map through their craft, especially afrobeats musicians. Nowadays, Nigerian singers collaborate with their foreign counterparts. These collaborations oftentimes favour all parties involved as it helps increase their fan base.

Wizkid featuring Tems and Justin Bieber — Essence

Grammy award-winning singer, Wizkid, and Tems teamed up with Canadian superstar, Justin Bieber, to do a remix of the song, Essence, which equally became a huge global success and an anthem for the summer in 2021

Released in August 2021, the song has garnered over 460,000 views on YouTube.

 

Future featuring Drake and Tems — Wait For U

The song was released in April 2022 and it features Nigerian superstar songstress, Tems, and Drake. Soon after its release, the song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

Moreso, “Wait For U” has been streamed a total of 40.2 million times, with 7.9 million radio airplay audience impressions and 6,400 downloads sold in the April 29 – May 5 tracking week, according to Luminate via Billboard.

The track also commemorated Drake’s tenth time at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart. In a celebratory first, Tems adds the No. 1 to her growing arsenal of hits. This is Tems’ second top 10, after Wizkid’s “Essence” landed as No. 9 in the chart during October 2021.

 

DaBaby and Davido — Showing Off Her Body

American rapper, DaBaby, teamed up with Nigerian multiple-award-winning act, Davido, to dish out the song, Showing off her body. The song was released on Friday.

The music video caused quite a stir as DaBaby flew into Nigeria for the first phase of the video shoot, while the second leg of the shoot happened in America.

The stir was caused by the Nigerian aspect of the shoot was done on the streets of Lagos and the spectators were excited to see the celebrities in real life.

Moreso, while in Lagos, DaBaby took to his social media accounts to announce that he had a great time in Lagos.

The song, which was released on Friday, had garnered over 477,000 views on YouTube.

 

Fireboy DML featuring Madonna — Frozen

Iconic Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML, joined forces with legendary American singer, songwriter and actress, Madonna to dish out a remix of one of her classic hit songs, Frozen.

The original song, Frozen, is a song from Madonna’s seventh studio album Ray of Light (1998). It was released as the lead single from the album on January 23, 1998, by Maverick and Warner Bros. Records.

The single was also a worldwide commercial success. It became Madonna’s sixth single to peak at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, making her the artist with the most number-two hits in the history of that chart at the time. “Frozen” also became her first single to debut at the top of the UK Singles Chart, while reaching number one in Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Scotland, and Spain, and the top five elsewhere.

However, in March 2022, Fireboy DML, lent his voice to the remix and the duo created another smash hit. The official video of the song, which was released in March, has so far amassed over 10.4 million views on YouTube.

 

Omah Lay featuring Justin Bieber — Attention

Ever since Omah Lay broke into the Nigerian music industry, he has shown no sign of slowing down. This time, the singer collaborates with Canadian superstar, Justin Bieber, to the delight of their fans as they put together the hit record, Attention.

The hit record, which was released in March 2022, is a single of Omah Lay’s forthcoming album, Boy Alone. In the song, the singers use their amazing vocals to urge the ladies in their lives to give them more attention. With its official video released in March on YouTube, the song has been viewed more than 13 million times by their fans.

 

Lojay featuring Chris Brown — Monalisa

The song Monalisa by Lojay and produced by Sarz became a hit the moment it made its way to the airwaves. Little wonder it shot to the number one spot on various music charts across the country. However, the singer made another hit with the song as he had the vocals of American superstar singer, Chris Brown, on it.

Soon after the song was released, it created a buzz in the Nigerian digital space mostly because Chris Brown made reference to the convicted internet fraudster, Hushpuppi, in his lyrics.

The song still enjoys massive airplay on radio stations. Moreso, it is still on music charts of streaming platforms like Apple, Spotify, Audiomack amongst others.

 

Fireboy DML featuring Ed Sheeran — Peru

In an interview, the singer, Fireboy DML, revealed that his record label boss, Olamide, leaked his smash hit song, Peru. However, the singer cannot be mad at his boss over the latter’s action as the song is one of the biggest records of 2022.

Fireboy takes the success of the song a step further as he teamed up with international British sensation, Ed Sheeran, for the remix of the song. No doubt it became an instant global hit with over 84 million views on YouTube.

 

DJ Tunez Feat Ashanti and Adekunle Gold — Energy

In November 2021, prolific disc jockey, DJ Tunez, had a collaboration with American Grammy award-winning artiste, Ashanti, as well as Nigerian superstar singer, Adekunle Gold, for the project, Energy.

 

Drake featuring Tems — Fountain

Multiple Grammy-award winner from Canada, Drake, enlisted the vocals of Nigerian songstress, Tems, for the smash hit, Fountain. The song was off Drake’s previous album, Certified Loverboy. While the song has no visuals yet, it still has been viewed over seven million times on YouTube.

 

Tiwa Savage featuring Brandy — Somebody’s Son

Iconic Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, teamed up with legendary American singer, Brandy, to deliver the hit song, Somebody’s Son.

The song did not only do well in the Nigerian music industry but also internationally. Both music divas also enjoyed fame from some social media platforms like TikTok as the song was used by content creators.
