A former governor of Kano state and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has arrived in Kano with some bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) planning to defect to the NNPP.

Those who touched down with Kwankwaso at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Friday afternoon include a former Speaker of Kano state house of assembly, Alhassan Rurum; Director General of Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, a House of Representatives member for Tofa/Dawakin Tofa/Rimingado constituency, Abdulkadir Jobe; and a former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on Legislative Affairs, Kawu Sumaila.

All those in the entourage have recently dumped the APC and are expected to formally announce their decamping to the NNPP at a rally currently ongoing at the Miller Road Kwankwasiyya House.

Conspicuously in absent in the entourage is former governor of the state, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, who was earlier expected to return with group and also announce his decamping to NNPP.

Daily Trust, however, gathered that Shekarau earlier returned from Abuja and would not be joining the entourage because of ongoing consultations with his associates.

But it was gathered from reliable sources that the former governor has also concluded plans to decamp from APC to NNPP and the decision would be formally announce on Saturday.
