The Liberal Bilingual University, Republic of Togo, in collaboration with the Institute for Commerce Research Enterprises Development (ICRED), has conferred a professional doctorate on a former Academic Secretary of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Alhaji Aliyu Umar Misau, who is also a retired judge, for his promotion of academic excellence and humanitarian services across Africa.
The Registrar/Secretary of Governing Council of the university, Dr Ahmed Abdullateef Tayo, during the award ceremony held in Abuja recently, said the varsity council said his nomination for the award of Professional Doctorate Degree in Commerce and Enterprises Development for the year 2021 is premised on his support and promotion of academic excellence, outstanding achievements, innovative programmes, implementation skills and humanitarian services across Africa.
He said the “award is designed to recognize and to reward your effort as Ambassador for peace (APCR), which characterises your experience as a traditional title holder and a magistrate that discharges judgment without fear or favour and Senior Research Fellow of the Institute for commerce research and enterprises development because, without peace building, there will be no transformative approach to economic development.”
Responding, Alhaji Aliyu thanked the university for the honour and recognition, saying, “I don’t know who nominated me for this prestigious award and I receive it in good faith because throughout my life whatever I am doing especially public service I do it with hope and prayers that my actions and services are accepted by Almighty Allah.
“I pray this award and recognition will not make me feel proud but spur me to continue selfless services to humanity. I am also praying that this award is accepted by God.”
