The books, which were all written in Hausa, include Tunaninka Kamanninka, Mu sha Dariya, Gajerun Labarai and Kimiyya Da Al-ajaban Al-Qurani, among others. The books, according to Tofa, were written in Hausa as part of his own personal effort to improve the language.

Alhaji Abdul Samadu Isyaku Rabiu, the chief launcher, bought some copies of the books for N20 million naira. Kano-based business tycoons Alhaji Aminu Dantata and Alhaji Abdulkadir Sunusi Dantata donated five million naira each. President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua bought eight copies of the books for N100,000. He was represented at the occasion by Minister for Special Duties, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Kazaure.

Kano State government also bought some copies of the books at N10 million for distribution to schools in the state. Nasarawa State government donated N2 million while Kogi State doled out N500,000.

The 44 local government councils of Kano State donated N8.8 million and all members of the House of Representatives from Kano State doled out N750,000. The Kano State Emirate Council donated 500,000 naira while Senator Mohammed Bello gave out N250,000.

Governor Ibrahim Shekarau lauded the foresight of the author, whom he described as a foremost politician and one of the few remnants of honest and sincere politicians whose contribution to nation building should be emulated.

He said  government would buy a large number of the books and distribute them to its schools so as to improve the study of Hausa language.

Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, said the books came at the right time when efforts were being intensified to improve the study of Hausa language in schools, and recommended that the books be distributed to schools.

Bayero said government should encourage the study of Hausa language from primary schools up to higher level to improve the study of the language among the youth.
