 Tiv/Jukun crisis: Suspected militia kills eight in Wukari

The chairman of Wukari local government area in Taraba state, Mr Adi Daniel, has said eight persons were killed by suspected militia in two locations within the local government on Saturday.

He told Daily Trust in a telephone interview that the locations where the eight persons died include Tsukundi and Rafin Kada road – all in Wukari local government area.

The chairman said the militia had also blocked Tsukundi road adding that a team of soldiers and police had to be mobilized to the area to chase away the hoodlums.

He said he personally accompanied the security agents to the area to ensure normalcy return to the area.

Daniel explained that the latest attacks were coming while effort was ongoing to reconcile the two warring factions.

He urged the Tiv people to respect the peace agreement reached earlier,  and stop  attacking the Jukun community.

“Our people no longer go to farm because of the attacks by Tiv militia in Jukun community,” the chairman claimed.
