Tiv/ Fulani crisis: Police deploy more men

Taraba police command has deployed more men to ensure that peace returns to areas affected by the Tiv-Fulani crisis in Bali LGA.

The police spokesman, DSP David Misal, told North East Trust that peace is gradually returning to the affected areas.

According to him, more police men were deployed to stop the fighting and ensure peace and order.

He said 15 people were killed and several others fled their homes.

DSP Misal did not, however, mention if  the police have arrested those behind the crisis.

North East Trust finding revealed that farming activities have stopped in the affected areas.

Similarly, more than 4000 people including women and children have fled the areas and are now in refugee camps in Maihula town and part of Gassol Local Government Area.

The Fulani and Tiv signed a ceasefire agreement last week but there were reports of fresh attacks in parts of Bali and Takum local government areas.
