Some supporters of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday said their principal will replicate the model he used in transforming Lagos State in other parts of the country if he becomes president.

They spoke on Saturday at a public lecture titled, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu: On The March Again” organised by Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), Lagos State chapter.

The DOJ is a support group which has been championing Tinubu’s presidency even before he made his formal declaration.

The guest lecturer, Prince Jacob Olutayo Solanke, dismissed various insinuations around Tinubu bothering on his state of health, educational qualification and his capacity, assuring that Tinubu would surpass the achievements recorded in Lagos as governor between 1999 and 2007.

According to him, while none of his supporters sees Tinubu as a saint, the presidential candidate towered above other contestants in the race. “Nobody under the sun is a saint,” he said.

He said, “Asiwaju made Lagos the envy of other states in this country. Under Tinubu, Lagos witnessed a colossal leap from grass to grace.

“If this is repeated in the 35 states and the FCT, the development would be universal.”

Solanke expressed confidence in the ability of Tinubu to address the insecurity bedeviling the country, saying he would complement the efforts of President Buhari in restoring peace to the country.

“We need continuity in Aso Rock to correct our shortcomings and consolidate our achievements as a nation.

“I have no doubt that he (Tinubu) will succeed as the next President but we need to play our part by making sure we vote massively,” the lecturer added.

State Coordinator of the group, Comrade Babatunde Sobowale said the group has resolved to mobilise thousands of people across the state to actualise the ambition of Tinubu.

He said Tinubu had prepared for the task of Nigeria’s presidency and he has worked for it over the decades.

He said, “This movement I must say, did not just start as any other movement, DOJ actually worked for the emergence of President Buhari in 2019, and the movement immediately metamorphosed to Asiwaju’s platform.

“Right from the top, that is, the national coordinator, it has pleased God to use us for many activities to put at the front burner our principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Today is another effort towards realising our dream, that is the reason why we all gather here to further our intention.”

National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Abdulhakeem Alawuje described Tinubu as “a First Class material and deserves to be the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“Tinubu is the Progressives’ machine that Nigerians need at this material period.

“As far as Nigerians are concerned, they will no longer vote for either religion or ethnicity from 2023. We have chosen the best for ourselves, we are voting Tinubu/Shettima. We are less concerned about their religion, political political parties or ethnicity.  It’s simply Tinubu/Shettima, period.”
