Tinubu urged to engage technocrats

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to engage technocrats in his government and not recycled politicians to enable him achieve his “Renewed Hope” agenda for the country.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Wilson and Yinka Badejo Foundation (WYBF), Dr Osaren Emokpae, made the appeal in Lagos State while addressing newsmen on the 16th yearly lecture of WYBF and scholarship award at the weekend.

He expressed displeasure with the inclusion of some politicians in Tinubu’s soon-to-be-inaugurated cabinet, saying recycling old politicians would not help the government to achieve its goals.

He said, “We were expecting President Bola Tinubu to toe the line of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who brought into his government technocrats like the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as Minister of Finance; and Oby Ezekwesili as Minister of Education, who turned things around in the country. Tinubu, however, has shocked Nigerians by recycling old politicians as ministers.”

While urging President Tinubu to promote inclusive governance in a bid to strengthen the fabric of the country, he called on the federal government to focus on infrastructural interventions instead of paying poor Nigerians stipends for six months.
