Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Lagos West, yesterday clarified that his move to return to his home state of Ogun to contest for political office started over 10 years ago.
Sen Adeola, who is eyeing the Ogun West Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that he was inspired to contribute his quota to the development of his home state.
Daily Trust reports that Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, will be completing his second term as senator representing Lagos West, the largest senatorial district in the state.
He was a member of the House of Assembly for Alimosho Constituency 2 and House of Representatives, Alimosho Federal Constituency, before being elected to represent the Lagos West Senatorial district.
His attempt to return to Ogun State to contest has been generating uproar in the state; with some people kicking against it.
Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, Adeola stated that there had been several attempts to smear his image for daring to return home, noting that he had not violated the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or that of his party.
The senator also clarified that he was not being forced on Ogun by the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying it was his personal decision to return home.
