A former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress’ National Leader, Bola Tinubu, has commiserated with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, the people of Ogbomosoland and the immediate family of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewunmi, Ajagungbade III, over his demise.
Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, the 20th Soun Ogbomoso in Oyo State, ‘joined his ancestors’ in the early hours of Sunday at the age of 95 years.

He described Oba Oyewunmi as a highly respected traditional ruler who worked for peace, unity and development in Ogbomoso, Yorubaland and indeed in Nigeria.
He said in the condolence statement issued on Sunday by his Media Office in Lagos: “The Soun of Ogbomoso, His Royal Majesty, Oba Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III, had a remarkable reign, lasting 48 years.
“Bolstered by his business background, Kabiyesi had a deep passion for growth and development in Ogbomoso.
“It was, therefore, no surprise that commercial and business activities blossomed in the city during his time on the throne,” he said.
Oba Oyewunmi, born on May 27, 1926, to the Gbagun ruling house, ascended the throne in 1973 and reigned as Ajagungbade III for 48 years.
Tinubu also commiserated with the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, and the people of the state over the killing of the state’s Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir.
Dr Nasir was assassinated on Wednesday night in his residence located at GRA along Daura Road, Katsina, the state capital, by some gunmen.
In a passionate letter to Governor Masari, which he personally signed, Tinubu said: “The senseless attack on Dr Nasir’s home by unknown gunmen was a despicable and disturbing act of brazen criminality”.
Tinubu urged the Nigerian security forces to hunt down and arrest all who are found to have been responsible for this attack on the commissioner.
“Dr Nasir’s death is a poignant reminder that at this moment, our most imperative task as leaders is to defeat those who would menace and threaten the lives, livelihoods and security of our people,” he noted.
