The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; and some governors have eulogised President Muhammadu Buhari as he clocks 80 today.

In a statement by his media office signed by Tunde Rahman, Tinubu hailed the president for his commitment to nation-building and long years of patriotic service to the country.

Tinubu, who described Buhari as “a selfless and steadfast leader of uncommon zeal”, noted that the president enlisted himself into the service of the country as a teenager.

Also, Lawan in a congratulatory message to Buhari said, “As a soldier, military head of state and democratically elected president, you consistently fight for the unity, development and progress of Nigeria.

“As we approach the end of your tenure on May 29, 2023, you can rest assured that millions of Nigerians across our vast country genuinely appreciate your achievements in nation-building and in strengthening the guardrails of democracy in Nigeria.

“The record of your administration in infrastructural development across the nation is unrivalled and will continue to speak for your stewardship long after your retirement.”

Gbajabiamila, in a goodwill message by his media adviser, Lanre Lasisi, described Buhari as a beacon of hope who had made sacrifices for Nigeria and Nigerians over the years, especially in the last seven and a half years of his stewardship as the country’s democratically elected president.

Buhari, Gbajabiamila added, would be remembered as the Nigerian leader who brought infrastructural development closer to the people.

Also, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a congratulatory message issued by his spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, said President Buhari’s “unblemished service in public office has made him a role model to many Nigerians.”

He further said, “President Buhari has provided honest and transparent leadership in the country and demonstrated unparalleled patriotism, integrity, honesty and courage in the task of steering the ship of Nigeria in the right direction since he assumed office in 2015.”

Governors who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also eulogised President Buhari on his 80th birthday anniversary and assured him that they would work for the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in next year’s poll.

Kebbi State governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu, in a statement, said the APC governors were grateful for Buhari’s leadership, vision and commitment to move Nigeria forward.

Part of the statement reads, “Leaders and members of our party, APC are grateful to have your inspiring leadership role. Accordingly, our party has continued to evolve and both management of party administration and processes of candidates’ emergence are improving, which is responsible for the higher electoral advantages we have compared to other parties in the country.

“This accounts for the massive support of Nigerians for all our candidates for the 2023 elections at all levels. As we wish you a happy birthday and say a big thank you for your selfless service to our dear country, we reaffirm our commitment to work for the electoral victory of all our candidates for the 2023 elections.

“We are working hard with abiding faith and belief to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our presidential candidate emerge victorious and succeeds you. Your patriotically inspiring leadership remain the source of our massive support across every part of Nigeria.”
