The remains of the First City Monument Bank founder, Subomi Balogu, was interred in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State yesterday, amid glowing tributes by President Bola Tinubu and other prominent personalities who graced the occasion.
Tinubu was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Also in attendance were former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon (retd), Ogun and Lagos state governors, Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others.
Ijebu Ode town was agog with dignitaries who gathered to honour the late Olori Omo Oba of Ijebuland. The billionaire businessman died in London on May 18 at the age of 89.

Funeral service kicked off at 10am at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour in Ijebu Ode. It was followed by interment at his residence.
Tinubu described the late founder of the FCMB as an institution in the Nigerian banking sector and a model for generations of bankers.
Abiodun described Balogun as a role model, noting that his contributions to the banking sector, Ijebu land and the church would be missed.
In his message titled, “The Righteous will be separated from the wicked on the judgement day,” the Diocesan Bishop of Remo Anglican Diocese, The Reverend Olusina Fape, who read from the book of Matthew, Chapter 13, verse 24 to 30, described death as a debt to be paid by everyone.
