Tinubu donates N75m to victims of Owo Catholic church attack

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant on the platform of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has donated N75 million to victims of the St Francis Catholic Church attack in Owo, Ondo State.

Gunmen had invaded St Francis Catholic Church in Owo on Sunday killing over 30 people who were mostly children and women, leaving many others with varying degrees of injuries.

Speaking at the Palace of Olowo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, during a condolence visit in the company of the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Tinubu condemned the violent attack on the innocent worshippers describing it as evil.

A statement by Tinubu’s media office on Monday said the presidential aspirant promised to work with the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu to bring succour to the victims of the Owo massacre.

According to the statement, Tinubu also asked the federal government to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the nation.

Part of the statement reads, “Before he visited the church for an on the spot assessment, Asiwaju Tinubu pledged the sum of N50million to the victims and another N25million to the Owo Catholic Church.

“Expressing his sadness over the tragic incident, Tinubu noted that the South West had never witnessed an attack of such magnitude describing it as horrendous.”
