Tinubu, Buhari condole ex-Borno governor Sheriff over mother’s death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commiserated with the former Governor of Borno, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, over the passing of his mother, Hajiya Aisa.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, in a statement on Monday, said the president also condoled with the Modu Sheriff family.

He urged them to take comfort in the knowledge that the deceased lived an exemplary life defined by strong virtues and transitioned at the hallowed age of 93.

“The president prays that Allah grants the departed Aljannat Firdausi and comfort to her family,” Ngelale said.

Relatedly, former President Muhammadu Buhari has paid tribute to Hajiya Aisa, mother of Senator Modu Sherif,

The former president, in a statement yesterday by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, highlighted deep influence of the deceased in shaping the character and the success of her children, saying that she led a glorious life.

“There is no greater loss than losing one’s mother. My condolenes to Senator Ali Sherif and the larger Sherif family on the passing away of their mother. May Allah accept her good deeds.”

He dispatched a team led by two of his former ministers, Mustapha Baba Shehuri and Engineer Abubakar Aliyu, and a former presidential aide, Garba Shehu to represent him at the third day prayers on Wednesday.

Buhari also extended his deep condolences to the Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi and the entire people of the state on the loss of this prominent citizen.

She died in Abuja at the age of 93 and was buried in Maiduguri.
