Youngster Timibra Godsgift on Thursday fought from a set down to shock former number one player, Thomas Otu as action continued in the first Top 8 Lagos Tennis Cup.
Playing in the Blue Group, the former national junior player lost the first set to the more experienced Otu but the Port Harcourt-based Kodian Tennis Foundation player came out more aggressively in the second set winning 6-3 to force a rubber which he won to the delight of the neutrals.

In other matches Joseph Imeh bounced back into contention following a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Musa Mohammed.
Imeh was forced to scratch while trailing by a set to Ikechukwu Iloputa and now faces another tough Red Group test against Nonso Madueke – who also revived his chance of advancing to the knockout stage with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Iloputa.
