Tijaniyyah groups visit IDPs, hold conference in Abuja

Members of the International Organisation of Tijaniyyah Brotherhood (IOTB) in conjunction with the Tijaniyyah Muslim Students’ Association of Nigeria (TIMSAN) recently held their annual national conference at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Before the conference, the organisation’s medical team visited the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Area 1, where about 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) were given free medical treatment during a medical outreach/humanitarian service programme.

A medical team member, Pharm. Shittu Ibrahim, said malaria and malnutrition were the illnesses mostly suffered by those who came for treatment.

Okene advised members to see themselves as bonafide members of the country and to strive to stay and build the country to greater heights.

“We have the spiritual and technical strength to ensure Nigeria is developed and her economy is turned around for the better,” he said.

The national chairman also frowned at Nigerians transferring the country’s wealth to other foreign countries and urged that such practices be stopped.

He advised members to be more dedicated in their prayers and worship God wherever they are.

Speaking earlier, the IOTB’s General Secretary, Prof. Mohammed Mustapha Gwadabe, advised members to embark on a membership drive in order to draw people closer to Allah.

He said participants, who also included the Tijaniyyah Muslim Students’ Association of Nigeria. Underwent entrepreneurial training where the students were groomed in various skills.
