A former Green Eagles captain, Henry Nwosu has said he is backing the newly floated All Nigerian Players’ Union because the one led by former Nigerian international, Tijanni Babangida is self serving.

It will be recalled that former international, Chikelue Iloenyosi, with some of his colleagues like Julius Aghahowa and Friday Ekpo unveiled the parallel players’ union in Lagos.

The development has set tongues wagging with many saying it is a move by the Amaju Pinnick led Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to silence the Professional Players Union of Nigeria (PPUN) which has in its fold the ‘combative’ Harrison Jalla.

However, in a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, Nwosu said Pinnick has no hand in the activities of the Nigerian players’ union.

Instead, he said the birth of the new association has become necessary due to the urgent need to have in place a players’ union that would take everyone along.

“I am in support of that decision. There is every need for a new body because the other one (Professional Players Union of Nigeria (PPUN) is self serving. They don’t allow some of us to know what is happening.

“They hardly hold meetings. Nothing is happening from state to national level. They take decisions as it pleases them. This is unacceptable. It is wrong.

“If we’re operating a players’ union, it must be encompassing. Everyone must be taken along,” said the former ACB of Lagos player.
