Thunder strike kills 70-year-old man in Kogi

A 70-year-old man, identified as Malam Abu Yusuf, was reportedly killed by a thunder strike in Abocho, a community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. 

The incident occurred on Thursday around 5:40 pm during a heavy downpour. 

Locals said the tragic event has left the community in shock and mourning.

A resident, Dansoho Sulaiman, revealed that the deceased was the Imam of the Angwa community and was healthy prior to the incident.

Sulaiman said, “There was heavy downpour in Abocho in the afternoon up to the evening. He was outside when suddenly thunder struck and killed him. 

“He fell and died immediately. This has never happened in Abocho, though we heard of such an incident in Anyigba years back.” 

Residents were making arrangements for his burial as of the time of filing this report yesterday’s evening.
