A group of thugs in Dakasoye village in Garun Malam LGA of Kano State stabbed a businessman, Alhaji Auwalu Gambo, to death in the early hours of Monday.
The incident plunged the village into fear and grief as the hoodlums went to the victim’s house and stabbed him severally until he died.
Speaking on Freedom Radio, the wife of the deceased, Yahanaso Gambo, said they came around 3am while they were sleeping and moved directly to his room.
She said although they didn’t talk to her, they tied her husband with a rope and started beating him.

She said, “They crossed through the fence of our neighbours. They were about five in number. We were sleeping and they asked us to wake up. They started stabbing my husband and broke many parts of his body. They didn’t stop until he died.”
Also speaking, the mother of the deceased, Hajiya Hamu Kabiru, who also lives in the same house, said, “After killing him they asked me to give them money; which I did. They threatened to kill me if I didn’t get back to my room. They killed him while we were watching.”
Meanwhile, residents lamented over incessant attacks by thugs, calling on the state government to come to their rescue.
A resident, Aminu Muhammad Ilyas, said, “We are facing a great challenge in this area. People are coming regularly to either rob or kill people. We want the government to help us and address this issue.”
When contacted, the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said investigation was ongoing.
