Armed men suspected to be political thugs reportedly snatched ballot boxes during the re-run election for governorship and House of Assembly in Ogbor Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise, LGA and Omuma Oru East Council area of Imo State.
Omuma in Oru East LGA is said to be the home of Senator Hope Uzodinmma, who is also a chieftain of PDP.
Our correspondent was reliably informed by witnesses that in spite of about ten security men at polling centre, armed men stormed the ward 2 in Ogbor Uvuru and snatched ballot boxes after shooting sporadically into the air to scare voters and INEC officials.
Similar scenario was replayed at the Oru East LGA Secretariat where gun men stormed and stole ballot boxes from booth 006 and 008.
It was learnt that people ran from pillar to post when the gun men went snatching ballot boxes in the areas.
“We want peace in Imo State. We don’t want violence. All these gun shootings are not necessary,” said a worried woman in the area.
