One person has been shot dead by suspected political thugs in a polling
unit in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to a source who does not what his name in print said the deceased, Emaka Nwario, was a onetime chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in the area. “There was no gun shot in Ezillo, but I was told that Emaka Nwario, a former chairman of PDP in Ishielu Local Government Area
was gun down”, he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chris Anyanwu, confirmed that the command received
report of the killing, but that the name of the deceased is yet to be disclosed.
“I have just received the report, but whether the person shot is the
acting local government chairman of the area or the past is what I do
not know”, he said.
Our correspondent who monitored the election in Abakaliki metropolis
reports that the exercise was peaceful and that the card readers did not fail.
