Three traditional rulers in Ori Ire Local Government Area of Oyo state have lost their lives in a road accident involving a Benz car and a Scania truck.

The monarchs, identified as Olodogbo of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula and Alayetoro of Ayetoro, were reportedly travelling for an event in a neighbouring town when the accident happened on Friday.

Two of the affected traditional rulers were said to have died on the spot while the third died at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital.

The three survivors from the accident were said to be receiving treatment at the hospital.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, confirmed the incident, saying the accident was a head-on collision between along the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway.

Adekanye said the survivors were undergoing treatment at the LAUTECH teaching hospital while the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue.
