Speaking to newsmen, Sheikh Yahaya said armed ‘soldiers’  stormed the house where they met members and used sticks to attack them, leaving many injured with three of them in critical conditions.

“For the past four days soldiers have been terrorizing people in the state especially those along major roads but what surprised us was the storming of our area that was off the road in a community that we have been living peacefully for the past 11 years,” he said.

A statement issued by one Ibrahim Musa, the Head of Media forum of IMN, said, “We believe this is not an isolated incident since earlier in the week, some armed soldiers invaded another IMN centre in Jos, Plateau state, in the same manner, though in broad daylight. Our Islamic centre in Sokoto was also subjected to the same intimidation by armed soldiers a week earlier. What is common to all these places is that the attacks are simply being carried out by the security operatives for no reason.”

When contacted, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Isa Gambo said soldiers tried to apprehend a suspect who was spotted wearing a camouflage trouser before he ran into the mosque attached to the sheikh’s house and caused the commotion. He said the matter had been resolved.
