Three travellers have reportedly drowned in flooding along Ganaja-Lokoja highway after their boat capsized.

An eyewitness stated that the incident happened Monday evening.

Seven persons were said to be on board of the ill-fated boat when it capsized.

One of the victims whose body had been recovered was identified as Abudulfatia Abudulazeez.

The boat was said to be ferrying travellers from flooded highway in Lokoja to Ajaokuta end of the road when the incident happened.

It was reported that some divers were able to recover two bodies on Tuesday after frantic search.

Efforts is still being intensified to get the body of the missing third person believed to have died.

The Kogi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Aya, confirmed the incident, adding that two corpses were picked from the flood and had been deposited in a mortuary in Lokoja.
