Three people reportedly died and four others sustained injury in an accident involving the convoy of the Mai Tula, Alhaji Abubakar Atare Buba II.
Daily Trust learnt that the accident occurred on Thursday near Kumo town of Akko LGA, along the Gombe-Yola Highway.

It claimed the lives of Mai Tula’s pilot driver, Danjuma Mohammed, chief cook, Mohammed Lawal and Adamu Ibrahim, a police constable attached to the monarch.
Witnesses said the cook and the pilot driver died on the spot when a J5 Peugeot overtook a truck, lost control and rammed into the convoy of the monarch, who was on his way to Tula town in Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state.
The police constable died yesterday at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, from the injuries he sustained.
Our correspondent reports that three other persons who sustained various degrees of injuries are still receiving treatment at the FTH, Gombe; while the fourth victim was discharged.
Speaking to newsmen on the incident, Atare II described the death of the trio as a great loss to the royal family and prayed to Allah to grant them eternal rest.
“This is a great loss to me personally and to the entire Tula chiefdom because these are people I have close ties with and grew up knowing as members of the royal household. So, I feel the pains as a personal loss and pray that Almighty Allah will repose their souls,” he said.
When contacted, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe, Janet Kassa, said she was not aware of the incident.
“We didn’t record anything like that, maybe it was the police that did the rescue,” she said.
