The mother told the police that her 15-year-old daughter was sent on an errand in Akute Ado area, but was waylaid by Daniel Njoku.

She said he forcefully took her to his gang at their hideout, where the young girl was gang-raped, beaten and forcefully initiated into the Eiye cult group.

The complainant further said her daughter was threatened by the suspects and that she would be killed if she told anybody about the incident.

The police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said following the report, the DPO of Ajuwon division, SP Andrew Akinseye, detailed detectives to go after the hoodlums.

He said, “The team, acting on credible intelligence, located the hideout of the group at Akute Odo area, stormed the place and succeeded in arresting three members of the gang.

“The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime. They informed the police that they were desperately looking for more members to join their group, especially female members, which was what prompted them to do what they did.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the anti-cultists section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation.
