Things to do in Minna this weekend

Eateries and Restaurants
Poplar eateries and fast food joints include Glamour Restaurant located at Old Airport road, Less Restaurant located at Limawa Quarters and Mama Rashida Restaurant on Shiroro Road. Others include Mr Biggs, Habes Restaurant, Safara Restaurant and many more. There are also kilishi joints. A visitor can also get traditional foods like pounded yam with egusi soup at Maitumbi Road, Maman Aisha Restaurant near UK Bello Arts Theatre, fura and nono at Kasuwar Gwadabe.
First time visitors can be treated to a local snack called dakuwa in Hausa.
 

Emir’s Palace
A few meters away from the Central Mosque is the Emir’s palace. It is the official residence of the emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruq Bahago. A lot of historical artefacts found in the palace make it a tourist’s delight.

Minna Central Mosque

Minna Central Mosque is located at Unguwar Gabas. The mosque is one of the historical monuments in Minna city. It was commissioned on October 20, 1985 by the late Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki during the General Sani Abacha regime.

Minna Central Market
 

It is a popular market located along the Old Airport road. A modern market with infrastructure, space and security, it was built and commissioned by former Governor AbdulqadirAbdullahi Kure. With almost any kind of commodity on display, the market is one major attraction for visitors.

Sporting facilities

For sport-loving visitors, there is the Bako Kontagora Stadium located opposite Chanchaga Local Government Secretariat, I23 Field located near New Minna Central Market, Old Airport Polo Ground located along Mu’azu Muhammad Road and Handball Court at Unguwar Sarki.
