Thieves stab cyclist, snatch motorcycle in Kuje

A commercial cyclist identified as Rabiu, sustained injuries after he was stabbed and his motorcycle snatched by suspected motorcycle thieves at Tukpe village, Kuje Area Council, Abuja.

A resident of the area, Yakubu Sani, said the incident happened on Saturday, when Rabi’u was conveying two passengers from Tipper garage in Kuje, to Tukpe village in the area.

He said the motorcycle thieves, who pretended to be passengers, flagged down the victim and asked him to convey them to Tukpe.

“While on their way, one of them brought out a knife and stabbed the cyclist on the back and they escaped with the bike after he lost consciousness.

“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment,” he said.

Another resident of the area, Samuel decried incessant cases of motorcycle snatching along Tukpe-Pegi communities, saying motorcycle thieves targeted their victims on daily basis along the route. The spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to pick calls or reply to a text message sent to her to confirm the incident.
