They individually make a difference in people’s lives in many ways – our Unsung Heroes

Many Nigerians – ordinary and not so ordinary alike –  go out daily to improve the lives of their communities and they hardly get mentioned. They do it from the depth of their hearts not seeking any publicity. We go out every year to look for such people to celebrate them. We believe they deserve it but more importantly, they serve as inspirations to others. They also give hope that our society still has compassionate and resilient people. They give us hope and make us to keep moving.

Like in the past, Daily Trust, this year, came across a number of such Nigerians who are doing a lot to society but they hardly get mentioned.

Take the case of the two young Fulani youths who decided to give back to their community. Being products of nomadic education they sacrifice their time and resources to see that their little brothers and sisters also get the same opportunity. There is also a retired soldier who found pleasure in promoting peace and engaging the youths in productive ventures.

SPONSOR AD

From far away the United States is another story of a woman entrepreneur who is providing free education to the young underprivileged members of her community. Another young lady, who started helping out when she was just in a Junior Secondary School, has now seen to the building of a school for a community in Gombe.

They are heroes by every definition of the term yet they want to remain unsung! They seem content on reaping their rewards in heaven, not here on earth.

All the same, this year’s edition of Unsung Heroes, like others before it, contains the stories of people who, in their own little ways, are contributing their quota to the betterment of their societies. For the laudable things they do and still doing, Daily Trust decided to blow their trumpets which they seem to be too busy to do by themselves.
