Theft: Cross River governor has promised to compensate me — Mayorkun

Famous Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel popularly known as Mayorkun, hours ago revealed that his property was stolen when in Calabar State where he was invited to perform at an event.

Due to the incident, the singer has noted that the state’s residents might not see him again. In a series of X posts, Mayorkun noted that the item stolen might not be retrieved.

He said in Nigerian parlance saying that a stolen property might never be recovered, “Izz gone! no wam!” the tweet was accompanied with a love emoji. (sic)

Responding to the incident, his colleague in the music industry, Iyanya who is from the state via his verified X account appealed to the culprits to hand over the stolen item as it is shedding a bad light on Calabar.

He tweeted in part, “My Calabar people, this is very bad for the peaceful people I know us to be. The government has brought my colleagues to entertain you, all you owe them is protection and great hospitality.”

However, in a recent development, the Eleko singer via his X account has revealed that the state governor, Bassey Out, has waded into the matter and has assured him that he would be compensated for the loss of his valuables.

Mayorkun tweeted, “He assured me that Calabar people remain very hospitable and he has also stressed that I ll be compensated for my valuables lost. Thank you, sir.”

Further speaking on some of his stolen items the singer stated that he is still in search of his diamond pendant and offered N5m for whoever retrieves it.

He wrote, “Still searching for my pendant! It’s so special to me for many reasons. I have a 5 million naira reward for anyone who finds and returns it. Please help spread the word!”
