THE LAST GOOD BOOK I READ… The Woman Next Door

Maryam Awaisu (Author) The Woman Next Door by Yewande Omotoso

Maryam Awaisu said her last good read is ‘The Woman Next Door’ by Yewande Omotoso. “It was very caustic and I love that,” she said about the book. “I also love how the very important issue of white supremacy was tackled. I saw a lot of me in Hortensia and it reminded me that we are inevitably shaped by our experiences.”
Awaisu is the author of ‘Burning Bright’, a novel about her experience with sickle cell anaemia, shortlisted for the NLNG Nigeria Prize for Literature, 2016.
