THE LAST GOOD BOOK I READ…

Umar Saleh Gwani (Poet): Season of Crimson Blossoms by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim

Poet Umar Saleh Gwani’s last good read is Abubakar Adam Ibrahim’s debut novel, ‘Season of Crimson Blossoms’. “I have always wanted to tell a story like that,” he said. “It tried to address how extremely departed from our communities we are. That culture of silence and not talking about certain things because they are taboo.”

A story centred around Reza, a political thug and Hajiya Binta, a widow, Ibrahim’s ‘Season of Crimson Blossoms’ won the 2016 NLNG Nigerian Prize for Literature.
