Abdulrazak Lurwan Hassan (popularly known as Abdulrazak Rogo) is a web developer and designer, who is the CEO of Easy Life Creative studio. In this interview he spoke to Daily Trust Youthville on the opportunities in Tech entrepreneurship.

Why did you start Easy Life Creative studio?

I learnt that many businesses failed because they could not afford to hire digital agency to help them find their voices in a noisy digital space. So I started specifically to help those small businesses get real result from their website and marketing strategies without breaking the bank.

At Easy Life Creative studio (which is my first company) we create websites, logos and graphics for businesses and organisations.

What is the place of digital companies such as yours in empowering Nigeria’s young population?

Honestly, the first and the most important empowerment our youths need is to help them change their mindset, yes they need entrepreneurship mindsets. In another view and my own personal understanding, empowerment is not all about capital or skill. You can’t empower someone who is not ready to be empowered.

What do you think is the cause of unemployment in Nigeria and what are the action(s) to take in order to address it?

As I see it, the main cause of unemployment in Nigeria is lack of sustainable and enabling environment for small businesses to strive, unfavorable government policies, multi-taxation among others. We all know that government cannot employ everybody.

Nigeria needs more job creators than ever before. Entrepreneurs give employment to the masses in every country. Employees and businesses pay the taxes that fund the government who use the taxes to employ more people.

So if you are thinking of starting a new business be assured that it is one of the most important contributions a person can make to their country.

To address unemployment in Nigeria, government needs to pay more attention on private sector, especially the SME.

How will technology affect the future of the Nigerian Youth?

The future of Nigerian youth in tech is brighter than you can ever imagine.

I agree that we still face challenges related to infrastructure, security and education. Nevertheless, our young people have forged paths towards sustainability for themselves. And what will amaze you is that, most of the developers we have are self-taught.

As I always say “Things are happening” and you will never know if you’re not in tech ecosystem.

Young people are developing amazing tech enabling businesses, from financial technology to agricultural technology start-ups.

In the next five years, Nigerian will be among top five countries with high number of professional developers.
