Kashere varsity introduces scholarship for host communities

The Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, has introduced a scholarship scheme to support less privileged students of Kashere town and its surrounding communities.

The Vice Chancellor of FUK, Professor Umaru Pate, who disclosed this to North East Trust, said the management of FUK approved the establishment of a scholarship fund as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support disadvantaged undergraduate and postgraduate students from the host communities.

According to him, a committee of stakeholders will be inaugurated soon to kickstart the process of the award.

Prof Pate said the university recently matriculated 3,448 students admitted for the 2020/2021 academic session during its 10th matriculation.

He explained that the matriculated students, comprising of 2,319 males and 1,129 females, were admitted into faculties of agriculture, education, humanities/management, social sciences and science after a rigorous screening exercise from a pool of thousands of applicants.
