The city still under water, days after Hurricane Matthew

– For the first time since they evacuated last Sunday, John and Darlene McKoy were able to return to their home off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the south end of Lumberton in North Carolina Their reactions differed as they looked at their three-bedroom house surrounded by 4 feet of water. John McKoy, 55, tried the occasional light-hearted joke. “That looks good,” he said, “I just can’t swim through it.” Here,some local residents gather on their front porch as a child shoots a BB gun while they seek refuge from flood waters due to Hurricane Matthew in Lumberton, North Carolina.
