The brief: Rumpus in APC; untapped gold mine; trapped in the church

There is a rumpus in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over which zone should produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

2023: Rumpus In APC Over Zoning As Umahi, Kalu Join Race

There is fresh rumpus in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over which zone should produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor as Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State on Tuesday announced his intention to vie for the presidential seat.

The governor disclosed his decision after visiting Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, where he intimated President Buhari of the move.

‘Borno Generates N18.7 Billion In 2021’

The Chairman of Borno State Board of Internal Revenue Service (BO-IRS), Mohammed Alkali, has said N18,739,031,387.28 was raised through internally generated revenues (IGR) collected in 2021.

Mohammed made this known to our correspondent in Maiduguri on Tuesday. “This represents a year-on-year increase of 62 per cent over that of the year 2020 which was N11,593,000,000,” he said.

Shonekan: Buhari Orders Flags To Fly At Half-Mast

Following the death of a former Head of the Interim Government, Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan, President Muhammadu Buhari, has directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast.

The President gave the order in a statement on Tuesday night by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

Katsina Fixes April 11 For LG Polls

The Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) has fixed April 11 for the local government elections, six years after.

The Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Bako, disclosed this at a press conference on Tuesday in Katsina.
