Amid rising security challenges, the Department of State Service (DSS) says recessing members of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly as well as other public, private sector workers on vacation may be predisposed to threats of various degrees.

From Nigeria’s North-west, a violent clash erupted late Tuesday evening between youths of the Sabon Gari area of Kano State and officials of Hisbah, the state Islamic police when the latter raided a shop selling alcoholic drinks in the area.

24 hours after bandits blocked the Kaduna-Zaria expressway and killed three people while abducting scores, they again abducted five people in Dallatu and Kasuwar Da’a areas of Dutsen Abba in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

National Assembly Members, Others Prone To Assassination, Kidnapping – DSS

Amid rising security challenges, the Department of State Service (DSS) says recessing members of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly as well as other public, private sector workers on vacation may be predisposed to threats of various degrees.

DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya, at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, said “these individuals are susceptible to kidnapping, hijack, assassination, armed robbery and political manipulations.”

Youths Clash With Hisbah Over Attempt To Seize Alcoholic Drinks In Kano

Violence clash erupted late Tuesday evening between youths of the Sabon Gari area of Kano State and officials of Hisbah, the state Islamic police when the latter raided a shop selling alcoholic drinks in the area.

It was gathered Hisbah officials had stormed Ballat Hughes by Court road in the area to confiscate alcoholic drinks at a drinking joint operated by a woman but met with stiff resistance from youths in the area, a situation that generated a violent clash.

Lassa Fever Kills Two Doctors, Others In Nasarawa

No fewer than four people have been confirmed dead following the outbreak of Lassa Fever in Nasarawa State.

Daily Trust gathered that two of the dead people are doctors. The other two victims are a mother and her baby, it was learnt.
