Fifty-seven people have been killed in Sokoto State in two days as bandits went on a rampage, Daily Trust reports.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has urged the federal and state governments to focus on basic education as a way of ending banditry in the country.

Fifty-seven people have been killed in Sokoto State in two days as bandits went on a rampage, Daily Trust reports.

The death toll from Sunday and Monday’s attacks in Goronyo Local Government Area of the state increased to 43 from 15, while 14 others were killed Tuesday in attacks across communities in Sabon Birni LGA of the state.

US Removes Nigeria From Religious Violators’ List

US has removed Nigeria from the list of countries “engaging in violation of religious freedom”. Blinken made the announcement ahead of his visit to Nigeria.

He added that the American government had blacklisted Russia, China and eight others as Countries of “Particular Concern for having engaged in or tolerated ‘systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.”
