Welcome to ‘A Week of COVID-19’, the weekly newsletter on coronavirus pandemic from Daily Trust. I am Khadijat Lawal, a content creator and social media manager.

Another week, and still COVID-19 is here. The Edo state government is not taking it likely with unvaccinated people, especially Civil servants. On Wednesday, many were stranded at the state secretariat and other government offices in Benin City as the state government commenced its “no vaccination, no access to public places” policy. Should other states adopt this policy?

A panel advising the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended boosters of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for people 65 and over, and those at high risk.

But it voted against recommending a shot for everyone aged 16 and over. The outcome is a blow for President Joe Biden, who said widespread jabs would be available by next week if approved.
