The August movie train

Recently, streaming giant Netflix announced a list of new Nollywood titles coming to screens this fourth quarter. From the creative studios of Kemi Adetiba, Charles Okapleke, Kunle Afolayan and Mo Abudu, Nollywood fans are yet to be wowed again through cinematic storytelling. This feature lists the Nollywood blockbusters coming your way this month.

The Black book

In this tale, after a group of dishonest police officers kill a father’s only son, past grudges resurface, and the guy sets out to seek vengeance. The star-studded cast includes Richard Mofe-Damijo and Ade Laoye as the lead actors, along with Sam Dede, Alex Usifo Omiagbo, Olumide Oworu, Shaffy Bello, Ireti Doyle, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Patrick Doyle, Bimbo Manuel, Femi Branch, Denola Grey, Kelechi Udegbe, and Nobert Young.  BAFTA-winning cinematographer Yinka Edward shot the title.

Blood Vessel

Charles Okpaleke and Play Network Studios provide a gripping mystery and crime story in Blood Vessel. Follow six friends as they slip away on a ship headed for South America in an effort to flee the violence in their country. The film is directed by Moses Inwang and produced by Agozie Ugwu, Arafat Bello-Osagie, and Roxanne Adekunle-Wright. David Ezekiel, Adaobi Dibor, and Jide Kene Achufusi play the three main characters.

Ijogbon

A youth drama-adventure movie about four young people from a small town in South-West Nigeria who find a bag of diamonds and hide it, leading to terrible consequences. The film was directed by Kunle Afolayan and produced by Golden Effects Pictures. The cast includes Bimbo Manuel, Kayode Ojuolape, Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa, Ruby Akubueze, Fawaz Aina of Ikorodu Boiz, Yemi Solade, and Gabriel Afolayan.

Anikulapo; the series

Another title from Kunle Afolayan and Golden Effects is a spinoff of the much-loved Yoruba epic, “Anikulapo,” which will be released as a four-part sequel following the success of Anikulapo the film. Sola Sowobale, Kunle Remi, and Bimbo Ademoye, in addition to newcomers Owobo Ogunde, Gabriel Afolayan, Lateef Adedimeji, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Uzee Usman, Oyinda Sanni, and Taiwo Hassan, will reprise their roles in the Kunle Afolyan-directed and -produced series.

War: Wrath and Revenge

The popular Sons of the Caliphate spin-off WAR recounts Nuhu Bula’s ascent to the position of governor of Kowa, which was cunningly arranged by his wife Binta, who would do anything to see her husband succeed. Binta will do all it takes to defend her love when she learns that her husband is preparing to take a second wife. The series’ Executive Producer is Mo Abudu, while its Supervising Producer is Heidi Uys. Mofe Duncan, Rahama Sadau, Yakubu Mohammed, Patrick Doyle, Ayoola Ayolola, Ifeanyi Kalu, Theresa Edem, Bikiya Graham Douglas, Daniel Okosun, Maikudi “Cashman”, Mickey Odeh, Sophia Muhammed, Uzee Usman, and Padita Agu are among the cast members that will be under the direction of Dimbo Atiya.

New titles coming to cinema

Mikolo

Following the success of The House of Secrets, Anthill Studio is set to release Mikolo, its first family-focused feature film,. The film was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and shot in the mountains of Ondo State. It will delve into issues such as family, friendship, societal ideals, animal love, and adventure. Pamilerin Adegooke (12) and Fiyinfoluwa Asenuga (8) are two of the teen performers in the film, along with other notable actors Daniel Etim-Effiong, Yvonne Jegede, Riyo David, Yomi Elesho, and Ayo Mogaji.

The Modern Woman

The Modern woman, written and directed by Yomi Black, is the tale of a young lady whose carefully orchestrated existence is torn between her job, family, and love when she suffers the tragic loss of her pregnancy. Timini Egbuso, Bimbo Akintola, Ebere Nwizu, Chinoso Arubayi, Nene Nwanyo, and Kammel Audu are among the actors who appear in the film.

A bag of trouble

A Bag of Trouble, produced by Collis T. Miller and written and directed by Mazi Chimex, is a psychological drama about a young guy whose life comes to an abrupt end after receiving a token of appreciation from a powerful politician.

The film stars a large number of actors, including Broda Shaggi, Sabinus, Jide Kosoko, Hafiz Oyetoro, and Bimbo Oshin.

Kesari; the king

Another Yoruba film is on its way to the big screen. Kesari: The King relates the tale of a man who was once a god and later turned mobster.

Mr. Macaroni, Deyemi Okolanwon, Femi Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Lateef, Odunlade Adekola, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Yvonne Jegede are among the stars of the Yoruba film, which is produced and directed by Ibrahim Yekini.
