Terrorists have killed about 37 people in separate attacks on communities in Zamfara and Katsina states.

At least 20 people were killed in communities in Bungudu and Tsafe local government areas of Zamfara, Daily Trust on Sunday gathered.

Residents said the terrorists riding about 100 motorbikes invaded Yar Katsina Village in Bungudu Local Government Area when residents were observing Juma’at prayer and killed at least 10 people. The terrorists also abducted about 50 others.

A resident said the casualty figure would have been more if not that the local vigilantes otherwise known as Yan Sakai stood firmly and defended the community.

A resident in Magami identified as Babangida said the terrorists were spotted moving towards the Dandundun area.

The terrorists also attacked Nasarawa Mai fara in Tsafe Local Government Area where they killed another 10 people.

Residents said the community was attacked after the residents failed to redeem the levy slammed on them.

Our correspondent gathered that residents in the Rijiya district of Gusau Local Government Area have also fled their communities to escape the wrath of the terror group.

The spokesman of the state police command SP Muhammad Shehu could not be immediately reached for comments on the attacks.

Bandits also attacked Karfi Ward in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State where they reportedly killed 17 people Friday night.

A member representing the local government council at the state house of assembly, Aminu Ibrahim Saidu, who confirmed the incident, said he had visited the areas and sympathised with the families over the attack.

There are increasing activities of bandits recently in Katsina state, with the police authorities attributing it to the influx of bandits from Zamfara and Sokoto due to the ongoing military operations in the states.
