The House of Representatives has called on the Nigerian military to step up security measures to secure Borno and Yobe communities from terrorists’ attacks.
The call followed the adoption of separate motions on matters of urgent national importance moved by Lawan Shettima Ali (APC, Yobe) and Ahmed Satomi (APC, Borno) at the plenary on Tuesday.
Presenting his motion, Lawan Shettima Ali said terrorists on a revenge mission riding on about 15 motorbikes with sophisticated weapons went to Nguro Kayaiya and killed 16 males on the outskirts of the village and later burnt down houses, vehicles, and tricycles.
He said the attack was carried out on the community which is under Kusur Damakarwa Ward in between Gumsa and Kusur towns of Geidam LGA, Yobe State, on Monday; 30, and Tuesday; 31 October, 2023.

He added that several other villages including Nguro Kayaiya, Jororo in Geidam LGA, Garin Bulama Garaiye, in Yunusari LGA were burnt down.
On his part, Ahmed Satomi said heavily armed Boko Haram terrorists attacked Zabarmari farmers working in their rice fields in the villages of Koshebe, Karkut, and Bulabulin of Jere Mafa Local Government Area, killing several of them on Saturday, November 4th, 2023.
He said the attack was carried out by terrorists in the communities which he said were located less than 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
